And a great 2017 Sardine Run

And a great 2017 Sardine Run

It’s been a great 2017 Sardine Run so far, at by all indications, it is far from over!

Just this last weekend, many nets went in at Mnini and surrounding beaches, on the south coast of KZN. We encountered shoals of them swimming under the boat on Saturday. And we even caught a few on yozuris.

Although the action has hotted up in Natal, it’s down in Port St. Johns where the real chaos has been happening. Bryde’s Whales in amongst the usual suspects of killer whales, whales, dolphins – sharks and gamefish. And the gannet squadron of lethal missiles that can become fish and swim around underwater, to amazing depths. Picking off sardines one by one and gulping them down.

The gamefish have been characteristically shy, although the spearos report seeing shoals of garrick and kob – and a few have gotten lucky with some incredible catches.

Check back soon or sign up to to stay dialled in to these slippery little sardines!
